Photos from the Super Rugby Pacific 2026 final as the Hurricanes put on one of the most extraordinary Super Rugby grand final performances of all time in demolishing the Chiefs 60-5 on a blustery night in the capital.

The Chiefs were attempting a healing process after losing three consecutive grand finals, the Hurricanes however quickly dismantled the hopes of ending that record in the most brutal of ways.

The Hurricanes, playing with a combination of ambition and skill coupled with the gale-force northerly, scored nine tries in total and allowed the Chiefs just one towards the end of the nights proceedings.

For the Hurricanes it was their second championship win after their first a decade ago. The halftime score of 29-0 set the record for a half-time score in a final - surpassing the 27-0 lead by the Bulls against the Chiefs in 2009.

The tries throughout the match were sublime. Few were better than Ruben Love’s first following a scorching run finishing off by an acrobatic dive fashion by the No.10. The start was emphatic from the home side and set the scene for what was to follow. Josh Moorby opened the scoring diving over from a wide pass from Roigard.

On a side note Ruben Love will more than likely be first-choice No.10 for this years upcoming All Blacks internationals for his excellence throughout the season and during the final which included a 25-point haul, coupled with rival Damian McKenzie’s poor performance at the Cake Tin.

After the match captain Du'Plessis Kirifi said as he accepted his winners' medal. "We've been building for a few years now".
