Photo highlights from the 40 Years of Homosexual Law Reform Afternoon Tea event which was held at Government House in Wellington.
The event was held at Government House in Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington to commemorate The Homosexual Law Reform Act 1986 and celebrate 40 Years of Love.
The event began with speeches from Dame Cindy, and the Honorable Fran Wild who introduced the bill as a private member's bill in March 1985. This legislation removed criminal sanctions for consensual sexual acts between men and equalized the age of consent.
The event was concluded by a young trans activist who reminded us of the reality of what happens when the basic rights to receive gender affirming healthcare for our Trans Rangatahi are removed.
