Photo highlights from the A-League Round 15 clash between the Wellington Phoenix and Melbourne City which was played on a stunning summers evening in the capital.
The home side started well on the occasion of their 500th fixture. Taking the lead when Carlo Armiento played a long ball over the top towards Ifeanyi Eze who latched on to the ball when Melbourne City goalkeeper Beach needlessly came off his line to enter the aerial contest and after spilling the ball, Eze proceeded to score from close range before doubling the lead shortly after Eze in emphatic fashion after getting the better of City defender Souprayen, before beating goalkeeper Patrick Beach at his near post with a fiercely struck drive.
Melbourne City struck soon after though substitute Marcus Younis who proceeded to burst past Phoenix goalkeeper Alby Kelly-Heald who was caught in no man's land before scoring. Shortly after the visitors equalised through Medin Memeti who capitalised on the Phoenix's new signing Bill Tuiloma who dawdled on a backpass and Memeti who caught both defender and goalkeeper unawares proceeded to fire an effort at goal before equalising on his second attempt.
Wellington had a chance shortly after to take the lead from the spot after Liam Bonetig was penalised for handball however goalkeeper Patrick Beach saved the resulting penalty from Manjrekar James to keep the scores level.
